About Us

We at Surf Beach Child Care Centre believe every child is unique and has a voice to be heard.

We believe that when a child feels valued and loved their achievements are boundless.

Our Philosophy

Relationships, interactions, and a sense of belonging is driven by a calm, relaxed nurturing environment where our children feel safe and secure. Educators actively promote equity and inclusion through embedding quality practices in our programs at the centre guiding children to make connections with their world. A natural and sustainable approach to learning provides a backdrop for children to be curious, enthusiastic learners through play based learning. A Holistic partnership between children, families, educators and community agencies creates a strong, support system which is able to respond in these uncertain times.

Each child’s unique learning journey is fostered using an individualised approach meeting their interests and their transitional needs to school.
Reflective practices helps us to guide our actions and our teaching methods moving us towards excellence in the provision of a quality Early childhood service.

Our Mission

At Surf Beach we believe our service’s strength is size and the provision of a “family feel”. Service where we are responsive and respectful and truly care about each individual child and their family, in regard to their race, culture, gender, individual needs and family circumstances. The staff at the centre aim to develop a respectful partnership with families who are the children’s first and most influential educators. We create a natural inviting homelike setting where children are nurtured and cared for in a secure environment which enables them to develop and grow to achieve the best possible outcome.

We provide a play based program within the Early Years Learning Framework and work continuously on an improvement program relating to the National Quality Framework. Our children have a strong voice where we are able to support their interests and provide open ended provisions that will extend their skills and challenge their thinking. We aim to provide children with the best start in life by developing a well-rounded, holistic approach to their education and development, while at the same time supporting their social and emotional development. Intentional teaching occurs consistently during pre-planned experiences, daily routines and transitions to further extend this learning process. The mission of our pre-school program is to prepare children with foundational skills to transition smoothly into the school setting providing an introduction to literacy and numeracy skills. With the support of community participation and an effective pre-school program implemented by an Early Childhood teacher, we are able to create successful learners for their future life journey.

Reflective practices guide and challenge all aspects of centre’s development and we encourage children, families and educators to be involved in reflections. We are able, though this process, to continually improve our service allowing us to move forward in an effective quality improvement program.

Through role modeling and real life experiences we endeavor to create awareness and care for our environment. We upcycle and use as many natural materials as possible in our setting. We promote sustainability every day through real experiences like composting, recycling, conserving water, worm farming and gardening promoting curiosity, creativity and critical thinking skills in our children working towards a sustainable future.

It is our intention at Surf Beach to connect with our local community as much as possible through excursions, and the use of community facilities including parks and libraries and inviting services into our Centre to share their knowledge. Our local community provides a rich resource and is a relevant context for our centre’s vision. It is imperative that in these unprecedented times we work closely with community agencies to provide support for our children, families and educators.

Our Staff

Our educators believe their role is to create positive bonds with children through kind, caring and nurturing relationships, building trust and confidence so that children grow into strong, resilient and competent adults.

Our Centre

Our Service caters for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. We are open from 7.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, 52 weeks of the year and closed on New South Wales and National public holidays. Notice will be given when these days occur.

We have 3 rooms:

  • 0-2-year-old room – Babies room
  • 2-3-year-old room – Toddlers room
  • 3-5-year-old room – Preschool room

Our Service promotes healthy eating habits and provides delicious and nutritious food for your child each day. We provide a nutritionally balanced breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and supper. We follow the Australian Dietary Guidelines to ensure our meals are prepared to meet the dietary requirements for all children. Our menu is carefully planned and prepared by a qualified cook.

We cater for the dietary requirements of all children enrolled at our Service. Please discuss your child’s special requirements, allergies and any other medical conditions with the nominated supervisor.

Our Menu

The Centre runs a six week rotating menu, generally changing for summer and winter. It is developed in line with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the NSW Munch & Move program. We cater for any dietary requirements your child may have by altering the same meal the other children are having.

Alternative meals are also offered to children of different cultural beliefs if required. We offer milk (cows, soy, lactose free depending on the individual diet) to the children at meal times and fresh water is readily available at all times.
